Those who intend to keep the same Tesla for less than five years might find benefit in subscribing instead of paying the upfront fee. This may be an attractive option, as the technology is non-transferable-if you sell the car, the FSD capability does not go along with it. Consumers who paid to ship their vehicle with Enhanced Autopilot can subscribe to FSD for $99 per month. Consumers who did not pay extra for either software upgrade (that is, only have basic Autopilot) can opt to subscribe to Tesla FSD for $199 per month. (As of now, Tesla Full Self-Driving includes all the functionality of both Autopilot systems.) The required hardware for each system is included in all new vehicles. Enhanced Autopilot can be added at time of purchase for $6,000, and FSD can be added for $15,000. Autopilot is the standard system available on all new Tesla vehicles and doesn't have an additional charge.
